Biography
Jet Vonk is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care at Utrecht University (Netherlands) and at the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain at Columbia University (New York, United States). She received her Ph.D. in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences from the City University of New York Graduate Center, with a focus on neurolinguistics and cognitive science.
Jet Vonk's research focuses on language and cognitive decline in healthy aging and dementia (e.g., Alzheimer's disease and primary progressive aphasia) with behavioral methods and neuroimaging, with a focus on semantics in preclinical Alzheimer's disease. Her interests and future directions include the role of semantic memory in early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, and the influence of individual differences on semantic decline in later life due to racial/ethnic, educational, and early life disparities.
At the Julius Center, Jet Vonk works in close collaboration with Dr. Mirjam Geerlings to investigate item-level characteristics of episodic and semantic memory tasks in healthy aging, individuals with mild cognitive impairment, and those with Alzheimer's disease using behavioral data in relation to 7T MRI brain scans across time.
